Cadaver Trip Thoughts...

         Cadaver Trip:

So about a month ago, my anatomy class took a trip to the science lab at Colorado State University in Pueblo. We took this trip to go see the new cadaver that the University received this year. To be completely honest, I was very nervous before we went on this trip. I was excited of course, but it was very nerve wracking as well, I really didn't know what to expect. It was a dead person after all! But when we got to the science lab and the cadaver was wheeled out and uncovered, I started to relax. It was actually very exciting to recognize the different parts of the body. We looked at all of the different parts of the body except the head. But I think the most interesting parts were the fingers/hands and the knee. I liked the knee, because the skin and joint of the knee were actually pulled back and it was easier to see how the joint worked. The fingers and hands were also interesting because there were parts of the hand where the skin was pulled back. So it was possible to see all of the different muscles over the different joints in the hand. The cadaver was really well preserved and it was easy to identify some of the different parts we have been studying. I could clearly see the heart and lungs and some of the different muscles in the legs. After we came back from the cadaver trip and identified some of the different muscles and organs I was able to remember seeing some of them on the cadaver. The achilles tendon is probably one of the most easy muscles to identify but it was interesting to see it on the cadaver and on the cat. Overall, the cadaver trip is one of the most memorable experiences of High School, and although I was nervous in the beginning I am very glad I went. And I definitely learned a lot from going!

Movies and the Beat Poster

About a month ago, our Anatomy class split up into group to do experiments on how certain things affect heart rate. Katrina, Steven, Audie, and I did our experiment on how the different genres of movies a person watches will affect their heart rate. We conducted our experiment and then created a poster discussing our hypothesis, data, and what we proved or didn't prove. I created this Glog with pictures of the poster, and a little bit of information on our experiment to explain a little bit about what we did in class. Enjoy!
